1997: Elected Alderman Parkville Ward 4. Served as Chairman of the Annexation Committee. Using voluntary annexation as the springboard, we took control of our destiny and added land areas: i.e. The National that has become a valuable commercial development, and the Highway 45/435 corridor which has nearly doubled the size of Parkville and increased our visibility to surrounding areas.
2004: Appointed as interim Mayor. Spearheaded successful effort to present capital improvement bond issue and lead recruiting effort to locate and hire Parkville City Manager.
2006: Appointed Commissioner for Parkville Planning and Zoning. During my term we initiated a Community Development Master Plan effort that is poised to become the "map" for Parkville that will assure continued quality in new developments while maintaining community character and charm.
April 2007 to present: Elected Alderman Ward 4. Serving as Chairman of Ad-Hoc Committee for Parkville Economic Development.
This Ad-Hoc Committee is a gathering of citizens evaluating many possible Parkville economic development initiatives. The committee includes representatives from the Parkville Chamber of Commerce and our members are among the most knowledgeable and forward thinking citizens and experts that Parkville has to offer. The committee was created to develop a list of cost effective, timely suggestions that the Board of Alderman can enact to further energize the Parkville economy. All this progress comes at virtually no cost to the city because the committee members are civic minded volunteers; not paid consultants.
Member of Parkville Chamber of Commerce to keep in touch with Parkville businesses successes, needs and concerns.
Parkville representative designee to Mid America Regional Councils MoDOT STP/BR Priorities Committee. This committee recommends the prioritization of projects to MoDot for the entire KC metropolitan area. Past representation and participation have yielded funding for the most important road and bridge projects in Parkville. Most recently this participation led to an opportunity to apply for State funding for the 9 Highway bridge widening/turn lane addition.

Background:
I was born in 1955 and have lived in the Kansas City area my entire life. In 1978, Lori and I were married. She and I met while in college, she attended KU and I attended MU, so I have experience in negotiating peaceful compromise, even between partisan rivals! I graduated from MU in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. We have three children, ages 17 thru 23 and one grandchild.
We moved to Parkville in 1993. We were originally attracted by the good schools, but quickly fell in love with the charm and sense of community. I have lived in several other cities, but Parkville is home. The sense of connection and community that we share in Parkville is very special. I want to preserve our special character and pursue an even better Parkville for the future.
I have several hobbies; I enjoy fishing, golfing, guitar, skiing and reading. I am an avid Missouri Tigers fan, I have been a Chiefs fan since 1967 and am trying to remain optimistic!
