Few mayoral candidates have ever been as qualified to become the Mayor of Parkville as Gerry Richardson. I have known Gerry for over ten years and during that time, I have had the opportunity to observe him from a personal and elected official perspective. As a friend and neighbor, I can tell you Gerry is intelligent, honest, conscientious, has integrity, a great sense of humor and his priorities are clearly in order. I can also tell you that he cares deeply for Parkville and has dedicated an inordinate amount of time supporting the City.
As an elected official, Gerry has worn many hats. He has served as an Alderman, a Planning and Zoning Commissioner and, when asked by the City, even served as our interim Mayor, where he spear-headed support for a very important capital bond issue and the recruitment for our City Manager.
I have seen Gerry's independent thought process and keen analysis of issues first-hand. He has fought hard to resist those who prefer divisiveness over inclusion, selfish needs over what's best for the City, and has helped guide the City towards finding balance between high quality, managed growth and the preservation of green space and recreational area. He has repeatedly resisted pressure from the special interests of land owners and developers in favor of Parkville's best interests. As a former business owner, he understands the challenges our businesses face and understands how important it is to support our merchants. Last, Gerry understands the unique ambience of our City and is committed to its preservation.
